Erasmus+ Inclusion Strategy
1. Context and institutional commitment
As part of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021-2027 and its international strategy, Institut Français de la Mode (IFM) places inclusion at the heart of its mobility policy. IFM aims to ensure that every eligible student and staff member can benefit from international mobility, regardless of their personal, social, economic, cultural or health-related circumstances. In line with the guidance issued by the Erasmus+ France Agency, IFM publishes below the full set of criteria allowing a participant (student or staff member) to be recognized as having "fewer opportunities" and, on that basis, to receive additional financial support for inclusion on top of their Erasmus+ mobility grant.
This Inclusion Strategy outlines IFM's approach to fostering inclusive international mobility in accordance with the principles of the Erasmus+ Program and the recommendations of the Erasmus+ France National Agency. It defines the institution's commitments, objectives, support mechanisms, and eligibility criteria for participants with fewer opportunities, with the aim of ensuring fair and equitable access to Erasmus+ mobility opportunities.
This strategy applies to all Erasmus+ mobility activities implemented by IFM, including student mobility for studies and traineeships, as well as staff mobility for teaching and training. It is reviewed periodically to reflect developments in the Erasmus+ Program and IFM's ongoing commitment to strengthening inclusion and equal access to international opportunities.
2. Objectives
The objectives of the strategy are to:
• ensure equal and transparent access to Erasmus+ mobility opportunities;
• increase the participation of students with fewer opportunities;
• identify barriers to mobility as early as possible;
• provide personalised support before, during and after mobility;
• strengthen awareness of Erasmus+ inclusion funding;
• contribute to a more diverse, inclusive and internationally engaged academic community.
3. Inclusive mobility process
IFM promotes inclusion throughout the mobility cycle.
Before mobility
• early identification of individual needs
• personalised advising meetings
• information on Erasmus+ inclusion funding
• academic flexibility where appropriate
• coordination with partner institutions
During mobility
• regular follow-up by the International Office
• coordination with the host institution
• rapid response in case of emerging difficulties
• adaptation of mobility arrangements whenever possible
After mobility
• individual debriefing
• evaluation of the support provided
• collection of participant feedback
• continuous improvement of institutional practices
4. Institutional support
Participants may receive assistance from:
• The mobility officer, which coordinates Erasmus+ mobility and provides guidance before, during and after the mobility period
• The academic team, which support students on academic matters, learning arrangements and the recognition of mobility periods
• A social worker, who supports students facing financial, social or personal difficulties that may affect their mobility
• Diversity and disability officers, who promote equal opportunities, inclusion, well-being and a respectful learning environment for all members of the IFM community
• A psychological support service, available to students whenever appropriate.
All personal information relating to inclusion needs is treated confidentially and in accordance with applicable data protection regulations.
5. Communication and awareness
IFM will strengthen communication regarding Erasmus+ inclusion by:
• publishing this Inclusion Strategy on its website
• providing dedicated information sessions before mobility
• informing students about Erasmus+ inclusion grants and additional support
• raising awareness among academic and administrative staff
6. Monitoring
The implementation of the Inclusion Strategy will be reviewed annually.
Key indicators include:
• increase in the number of participants with fewer opportunities
• use of Erasmus+ inclusion support
• participant satisfaction regarding inclusion services
• successful completion of mobility periods
• qualitative feedback from participants
7. Amount of inclusion support
Any participant recognized as eligible under one or more of the criteria listed below receives an additional monthly amount of 250€ on top of their Erasmus+ mobility grant (studies or traineeship), regardless of the number of criteria met.
8. Detailed criteria and supporting documents
In accordance with the Bulletin Officiel de l'Éducation Nationale and the Erasmus+ France Agency, criteria fall into two categories: mandatory criteria, applicable to all beneficiary institutions, and optional criteria, which each institution chooses to activate according to the specific needs of its student population. IFM has chosen to apply all of the optional criteria on offer in order to maximize access to inclusion support for its students.
8.1 Mandatory criteria
- Scholarship holder on social criteria, level 6 or 7 : CROUS scholarship award notification (level 6 or 7)
- Long-term illness (ALD) : Medical certificate attesting to the long-term illness, or equivalent document
- Disability : Disability card, inclusive mobility card (CMI), or any other document certifying the disability
8.2 Optional criteria applied by IFM
- Scholarship holder, level 4 or 5 : CROUS scholarship award notification (level 4 or 5)
- Resident of a priority urban district (QPV) : Proof of residence (energy bill, home insurance certificate, etc.)
- Resident of a French "rural revitalisation zone" (ZRR) : Proof of residence (energy bill, home insurance certificate, etc.)
- Individual case falling under inclusion : Reasoned statement issued by a social worker or equivalent professional, justifying the situation
- IFM Foundation scholarships holder : Scholarship notification
9. Application and verification procedure
- The participant informs their Erasmus+ coordinator as early as the mobility grant application stage.
- The relevant supporting documents are submitted to the coordinator and kept on file by the institution.
- These documents may be requested by the National Agency in the event of an audit, for the new criteria as from the 2026 intake.
- The €250/month inclusion supplement is paid on the same schedule as the main mobility grant (first instalment before departure, balance paid after receipt of end-of-stay documents and the Erasmus+ participant report).
10 . Publication and transparency
In accordance with the ECHE charter, this inclusion policy is published on IFM's website and details all the criteria applied by the institution, in order to guarantee equal access and transparency for all mobility applicants.
