David Zajtmann presents his book on haute couture
On 22 September, IFM professor David Zajtmann presented his book La haute couture et les industries de la mode parisienne (Éditions EMS, 2026) at the bookshop Le Verre Liseur. The evening included a book signing and a conversation with Arnaud Khodjamirian, sustainability project manager at IFM.
Drawing on extensive documentary research and testimony from many industry professionals, the book traces how haute couture has evolved in Paris and how it has taken shape over the decades. It examines the transformation of the houses and professional bodies, and the relationships between fashion, luxury and place.
This perspective sheds light on the singular position Paris holds in the global fashion landscape, a heritage that IFM, heir to the tradition of the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, helps to pass on.
