France is recognized on the international fashion and luxury scene as a place of tradition and innovation. The Fashion and Luxury Management Summer program will allow students to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and specific features of an economic sector that is undergoing constant change, and to discover the unique French « savoir- faire », from behind the scenes.

Audience

This program is open to university-level students and recent graduates from any academic background who have an interest in fashion and luxury. No previous experience or knowledge of fashion is required.

Objectives:

To gain insights about the culture and economics of fashion and luxuryTo apprehend luxury "à la française"To understand why a luxury fashion product is luxury? To comprehend the specific features of branding and merchandising in fashion and luxuryTo analyse iconic brands and their creations, communication and international development strategiesTo discover the different carrer options and job lines in the luxury goods sector

  • Fashion, Luxury and sustainability

  • Luxury customer service/Mystery visits
  • Particularities of merchandising in Luxury
  • Fashion and jewellery
  • Build a career in Luxury : professions and functions

This program alternates between knowledge input, workshops and field trips in Paris. You will be given the opportunity to visit exceptional places and meet players of major luxury brands.

  • Visits: Baccarat Museum, Galliera Museum, Broderies Lesage, Maison Margiela, Design Studios, Showrooms and Concept Stores...
  • Guided exhibitions: Yves Saint Laurent 1971 at YSL Foundation, Lanvin at Galliera Museum, Jean-Paul Gaultier at Grand Palais...
  • Guest Speakers: Christine Phung (designer Leonard), Jean-Michel Terrien (CEO-Paul&Joe)...

ECTS Credits:

Participants who meet the conditions for successful completion* of the programme can receive 5 ECTS credits.

Students are invited to check with their home university to see if the ECTS credits awarded by the Institut Français de la Mode are eligible.

Certificate:

At the end of the program, a certificate of participation in the Summer School is issued to participants who have attended all the course

Application

How can I apply?

On reception of the application form, the application is reviewed by the Summer School team. Once the application is accepted, the participant will receive a confirmation email with the instructions for payment (deposit and balance of the registration fee).

Please note that registration is confirmed only after payment of the deposit.

Fees & Scholarship

Can I apply for a scholarship?

IFM scholarships are available thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Cercle IFM. They are reserved for High-School Summer programs only.

Scholarships are available in a limited number and are need-based. They may cover up to 75% of tuition fees and are restricted to one demand per year and per participant. In case of registration to several programs, one grant only can be given.

Campus

Are travel and accommodation costs included?

Travel and accommodation costs in Paris are the responsibility of each participant. IFM can recommend, upon request, different options for accommodation and help foreign students in organizing their stay.

Practical information

What are the registration procedures for foreign students?

Participants from outside the European Union must ensure, if necessary, that they have a valid visa for France. Upon request and after full payment of the course, IFM will send the participant a letter confirming registration in order to support the visa application. IFM will also send you a visa guide upon request.

Important: 15 calendar days are necessary for consular authorities to treat visa request, sometimes longer in the high season.

If you are non-French you must ensure you are covered by your health insurance during your stay.
