Medici Fashion Residency: a new program between Paris and Rome

Institut Français de la Mode, the French Academy in Rome – Villa Medici, and DEFI have joined forces to create a new residency program for professionals in the fashion industry, in partnership with the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode and with the support of the French Ministry of Culture.

The Medici Fashion Residency offers two designers each year an exceptional environment to develop their creative work, deepen their artistic research, and structure their projects through exchange and reflection.

The selected residents will receive a grant, as well as a research period at Villa Medici in Rome and a production period at IFM in Paris, supported by the teams of both institutions.

The first two recipients of the Medici Fashion Residency have just been announced: Stéphane Ashpool, who will begin his residency in autumn 2025, and Prune Delon, who will take part in spring 2026.

This new residency embodies a shared commitment by IFM and Villa Medici to foster openness, dialogue, and interdisciplinary exchange between fashion, art, and culture.
