Eglė Čekanavičiūtė

Eglė Čekanavičiūtė is a designer and a Central Saint Martins graduate whose work is rooted in four generations of tailoring craftsmanship.

Her career in luxury fashion began at Burberry in 2008, followed by Dior, Maison Margiela, Céline under the direction of Phoebe Philo, and Nina Ricci. Since 2018 her practice expanded into fashion design consultancy for Lanvin, Lemaire, Jacquemus, Schiaparelli and most recently Chanel, alongside Matthieu Blazy.

In 2019, she founded her brand Gowns for Sport, conceived as a space for research into clothing through the exploration of bodies, seeking to open fashion to more diverse audiences.

This approach is reflected in her pedagogy at the Institut Français de la Mode, where she has taught since 2019, first within the Bachelor’s programme before joining the leadership of the Master of Arts in Fashion Design. She challenges students to pursue ambitious creative experimentation while fostering critical reflection on who fashion serves and on the experience of the wearer.
