Benjamin's research primarily concerns a theory of the meaning of clothing: he uses techniques from formal semantics and pragmatics to describe what can be communicated through clothing. He is also interested in the aesthetic properties of garments, the cyclical phenomena that characterize fashion and the nature of creative processes.
