September 2017: results on the consumption - clothing & textiles

After the increases observed in July and August, distributors' sales were again on a positive trend in September 2017, with a 19.5% increase in value compared to September 2016. However, this result must be qualified because the September 2016 reference was particularly low; commercial activity was down 12.1% compared to September 2015. Nevertheless, sales in September 2017 were about 5 per cent higher than in September 2015.

All channels benefited from an increase in sales. The results ranged from 38.4% growth for mass-market channels to 13.1% growth for multi-brand independent retail.

At the end of September, the results for 2017 improved and now show an increase in value of 1.8% compared to the first nine months of last year, in line with the very good third quarter results (+9.5% compared to the third quarter of 2016).
