The Mastère Spécialisé® Management de la Mode & du Luxe, offered in French, is the flagship course for those who wish to study management of creative industries (Fashion, Luxury, Beauty...). It prepares students for positions related to creative and brand management, product design, retail, communications and media.

The course is open to French speaking students holding a 5-year graduate level degree or a 4-year graduate level degree with 3 years professional experience (exceptions are possible for students with a 4-year degree without professional experience or a 3-year degree with at least 3 years of professional experience).

Need-based scholarships may be awarded to European students who will be 27 years of age or younger on September 1st of the first academic year of enrolment.

Tuition fees do not apply to students in the sandwich course, who are paid a percentage of the French minimum wage.

Degree certified by the Ministry of Higher Education at level 7

This diploma is also registered in the National Register of Professional Certifications at Level I: Diplôme de manager mode et luxe Bac+5 (level 7I). This registration allows graduates of the programme who are not nationals of the European Union to benefit from the Provisional Residence Permission (APS) allowing them to work in France for a period of one year.

Course organization

The first ten months of the course (from mid-September to mid-July) are dedicated to teaching, case studies and a dissertation. The core curriculum is taught in the first semester (the basics of the fashion, luxury, design, perfume and cosmetic sectors). In the second semester, each student chooses his or her « individual journey » (an in-depth study of one or more sectors or professions).

The course ends with a 6-month internship in a company.


The curriculum includes courses given by professors from the French Institute of Fashion, lectures by high-level professionals, real cases of companies, company visits and workshops.

The first semester is devoted to a common teaching base covering the fundamentals of the fashion, luxury, perfumes and cosmetics. In the second semester, each student composes his or her career path according to his or her professional aspirations.

Workshops Management and Design

Several case study workshops combining a marketing and creative approach bring together students from the Specialized Master's Degree in Fashion & Luxury Management program and students from the Fashion Design program.

Creativity workshops & entrepreneurship

The Specialized Master's Degree in Fashion & Luxury Management has established partnerships with institutions such as Ecole 42 (digital), Compagnons du Devoir, ENSCI (industrial design), in order to offer joint workshops, creativity and entrepreneurship workshops.

Company visits

Visits to factories and workshops are organized in France and Belgium: textiles, clothing, leather goods, design, perfumes.

Final thesis

The writing of a final thesis allows each student to deepen his or her individual reflection and develop his or her expertise on a strategic theme.


More than 650 internship and job offers are offered each year to students in the program. The 6-month end-of-study mission, which closes the programme, provides students with the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge acquired at Institut Français de la Mode and considerably promotes their professional integration. It is an invaluable employment opportunity.

The Specialized Master's in Fashion and Luxury Management can now be followed as an apprenticeship / sandwich course.

This 16-month program allows you to validate your diploma while working in a company, thus reinforcing your professional experience beyond internships.

After a full-time period of one and a half months at Institut Français de la Mode - from September 7, 2020, you will follow the course at a rate of one week at school and three weeks in the company until the end of December 2020.

Corporate mission

You will be responsible for finding the company in which you wish to complete your apprenticeship and must have signed your contract by August 31, 2020.

Examples of missions:

- creative professions (studio coordination, studio management, brand identity, prospective / trends, web design...)

- development activities (product development, materials or components...)

- marketing / merchandising (merchandising collection, retail merchandising, business analysis, operational marketing...)

- distribution and retail activities (business development, showrooms, retail missions...)

- communication / digital (brand content, visual merchandising, scenography, communications and public relations, events, VIP management...)

Terms and Conditions

Apprenticeship contracts are open to students who are nationals of the European Union or have lived in France for at least 12 months. As an apprentice, you will get paid a percentage of the French minimum wage (depending on your age and length of service in the company) and the training costs are covered by the company. Apprenticeship is available to students up to the age of 29 at the beginning of their contract.

The Specialized Master's Degree in Fashion & Luxury Management prepares students for functions related to creative and brand management, product design, retail, communication and media.


The programs prepares for 5 main families of professions:

  • Creative professions, which are located upstream of the processes of creation of collections and products, or focus on the more visual aspects of creation (studio coordination, studio manager/director, brand identity, foresight/trends, web design...)
  • Development activities, which focus on the development of products and prototypes, and require both technical and marketing skills in order to promote coordination between the creation and production of collections (development product managers, product developers, materials or components, collection managers, etc.)
  • Collection Marketing / Merchandising, which are functions related to the structuring of collections and the definition of assortments and which require analytical skills and sensitivity to the brand universe (merchandising collection, retail merchandising, business analyst, operational marketing...)
  • Distribution and Retail, which combine brand awareness with managerial and relational skills (business development, showrooms sales representatives, point of sale managers, retail network managers, etc.)
  • Communication and Brand Identity professions, which require writing skills, as well as graphic talents and aesthetic sensitivity (brand Content, visual merchandising, scenography, web manager, editorial/digital content manager, communication and public relations, events, VIP management...)

Career Coaching

The Careers Department plays a central role as a relay between students, graduates and companies by promoting contacts and meetings between recruiters and candidates. A dedicated team accompanies you during your studies at the Institut Français de la Mode as well as throughout your professional career, after your schooling. It helps you to develop your professional project, identify internship and employment opportunities and develop your network.

As students, the Careers Department offers you many events and support throughout the year:

  • Job presentations by Human Resources professionals, operational staff and alumni
  • Intensive individual coaching (creative presentation of each student's career path and professional project, assistance in writing CVs and motivation letters adapted to the fashion sector, preparation for HR interviews, individualized follow-up)
  • Sustained support in the search for end-of-study internships
  • Individual interviews with specialized recruiters notably during our Careers Fairs
  • Access to an exclusive database of internship and job offers

Throughout your career

As a graduate, you will benefit from the strength of our network of companies and alumni, in France and abroad. Personalized career follow-up is offered throughout your professional career and regular events are organized by our Graduates Association.

Tuition fees

Tuition fees amount to €14,900 for the academic year 2022/2023.

Lifetime contribution to Institut Français de la Mode's Alumni Association: €400

Tuition fees do not apply to students following the sandwich course option. Those students are paid a percentage of the French minimum wage.


Thanks to the sponsorship of company members of Institut Français de la Mode's Foundation, need-based scholarships are available for EU citizens under 28 years of age on September 1 of the academic year and who do not benefit from an individual training leave.

This program is also entitled to receive state scholarships (submit a scholarship application via the CROUS website in Paris). Other funding assistance may be available (EGIDE scholarships, EIFFEL excellence scholarships, etc.).

Admission requirements

The Specialized Master's Degree in Fashion & Luxury Management program is open to students who hold a 5-year degree or a 4-year degree with 3 years of professional experience (exceptions may be granted students with a 4-year degree without professional experience or for holders of a 3-year degree with 3 years professional experience).

This degree may have been obtained from a business school, an institute of political studies, a university (law, management, economics, literature, humanities and social sciences, communication...), an engineering school, a school of applied arts, design, architecture, plastic arts...

The courses of the Specialized Master Management of Fashion & Luxury being taught in French, candidates must have a minimum French language level of C1 of the CEFR to apply.

Admission procedure

The admission procedure is a two-step process:

  • Online application file. A non-refundable application fee of €100 is required to apply.
  • If your application is selected : an interview (either via Skype or in person), with a jury of faculty, staff or industry professionals.

If you are selected for an interview, you will be informed of a specific date and time from the dates indicated below. Please note that we strongly advise non-EU students to apply for sessions 1 to 4, in anticipation of visa processing times.
