Accessory Design

Nicolas Baurain brings twenty years of design expertise to Institut Français de la Mode with extensive experience in accessory and bag design in various fashion capitals. He started his career path at Carven and Guy Laroche in Paris, before moving to London where he worked as Women’s and Men’s senior accessories designer, first for Alexander McQueen, then for Jimmy Choo. In New York, he joined J. Mendel as Accessories Design Director. This international experience led him to launch his eponymous brand, Baurain, and start freelancing for many companies in 2014, in Paris, New York, Amsterdam and Berlin, such as Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg and Karl Lagerfeld. He is currently based in Paris, moving forward with his design activities while teaching and taking over the direction of the Master of Arts’ Accessory Design pathway at IFM.
